"Teaching is energetic and often inspirational and builds students’ confidence to achieve their potential. Lessons start promptly with a good pace that promotes a vibrant learning environment and strong work ethic. Teachers use a wide range of interactive activities and skilful questioning to engage and challenge students, and progress in lessons is very good."
"Students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds work together very well in a culture of mutual respect where individual success is valued highly by the whole college."
The role will be varied, demanding and rewarding. It is to ensure that all our support services (including IT services, procurement, estates management, health and safety and GDPR compliance) are cohesive, well-led, well-managed, and that the business is well-run. You will be the strategic lead for thesupport staff in those areas, working directly for the Director of Finance and Resources. You will want to assess and build the reporting structure within the rest of support services, where there are experienced and capable officers and managers, to develop capacity and capability at Trust level, and develop a team ethos which is Trust-focused, forward looking, where staff are effective self-managers who understand the needs of the organisation. You will also work with the relevant SLT leads at Rochdale Sixth Form College, Edgar Wood Academy and other schools as they join us.
As the Partnership (Trust) expands, you will be in the forefront of change, bringing new schools as organisations into the Trust. With the Director of Finance and Resources, and relevant Manager, you will negotiate and oversee contract management for outsourced services. You will play a leading role in evaluating the quality and cost-effectiveness of outsourced services, and the decision, and project planning and delivery to bring any outsourced services in-house or move to a Trust-wide service contract..
Similarly, you will be responsible for ensuring that health and safety policy is in place and followed, working with managers and operational leads.
"Outstanding leadership, excellent communications and exceptional governance are all focused on a determination to meet the needs of the local community and ensure students do well."

"Support for students is excellent. Initial assessment is used very effectively to provide highly individualised and focused support. Work outside lessons effectively develops students’ independent learning skills."
Rochdale has a population of around 200,000 and the ten years preceding 2007 saw an increase of 2,100. This rise is projected to continue, with population reaching 225,000 by 2031. As in most parts of the country, Rochdale’s population is ageing, however, in contrast to what is happening in Greater Manchester as a whole, the 0-15 population is greater in Rochdale (23% compared to 20%).
Rochdale Sixth Form College currently has around 1800 full time 16-18 year old students who are all enrolled to a full time Level 3 study programme of A Levels and BTECs. A minority of students are re-sitting either GCSE English or Mathematics.
The Department for Education has announced that the Altus Education Partnership will be opening a new free school in Middleton, serving Middleton and Heywood. Edgar Wood Academy is being developed in response to the increase in the demand for secondary places following the expansion of local primary schools.
Edgar Wood Academy will provide outstanding opportunities and transform the lives of young people in the borough.
Students leaving Edgar Wood will particularly benefit from the unique relationship between Rochdale Sixth Form College and Hopwood Hall College. Together, these two high-performing colleges guarantee that school leavers from Edgar Wood, and other Rochdale schools, have the opportunity to study from a range of academic, vocational and technical pathways. Rochdale’s young people are our future; working in partnership, we will help them progress onto local, national and international careers that will positively transform our community.
The number of pupils in the current year 4 and below has grown and existing schools in the Middleton and Heywood areas are unable to accommodate these additional pupils. This means that unless a new school is built, there will not be sufficient secondary school places to accommodate current pupils in year 4 and below.
Rochdale Borough Council have identified a piece of land at Bowlee accessed off Heywood Old Road with good transport and access links serving the local area.
The proposed opening date for the academy is September 2021.
Each year group in the academy will be 180, giving a total size of 900 pupils.
The academy is large enough to meet the demand for additional school places required but small enough to offer an intimate and caring approach to all pupils and families.
Students will embark upon an inclusive, fulfilling, broad and balanced curriculum. In addition to English and Mathematics, they will study a Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish), Science, Computer Science/ICT, History, Citizenship, RE and Geography.
A fresh modern building accommodating state of the art facilities including:
High tech ICT infrastructure with the ability to use ICT resources from home.
Industry standard science labs and apparatus .
Multi use sports hall and high specification sports pitches .
Strong pastoral support and high expectations .
Excellent careers, information, advice and guidance.
Direct links to the highest achieving sixth form college in the country .
"RSFC is a very friendly Sixth Form College. All the
teachers are willing and able to help out at any given opportunity.
Alongside great learning facilities and zones, it’s a
great place to study.."

The College is located close to the town centre of Rochdale, forming a part of the Education Quarter, on the fringe of beautiful Pennine towns and countryside, but still within Greater Manchester and its many cosmopolitan towns and transport links into the city.
With excellent road links and MetroLink services nearby, the College is commutable from all of the main towns in the region, including: Manchester, Oldham, Tameside, Stockport, Trafford, Bury and Bolton, and further afield from Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire, North West Derbyshire and South West Yorkshire.
The College is near to the culture and bustle of city life, but lies close to some of the North West's finest countryside.
